It's kind of weird to be writing this post. This is the text I sent to several close friends:
My eye doc called this morning with the brain scan results. “Cancer has metastasized to bone in my brain.” I have a PET scan tomorrow at noon to see how widespread it is and I see my oncologist at 11 on Thursday. Since my liver numbers are off I know there’s a chance it’s in my liver. And that would mean I don’t have long on this side of the veil. I feel amazingly peaceful. Karla is figuring out when to drive down.
Since then Karla, my sister who lives in New Hampshire, has decided to start her drive down so that she can go with me to the oncologist appointment on Thursday. She is SUCH a blessing to me. There's no way I can ever thank her sufficiently.
So now it's a matter of waiting for the PET scan results. Maybe it's not in my liver. Maybe it is. Maybe it's in all of my spine. Maybe not. I'll know more on Thursday.
But for right now it's a pretty October day. I have wonderful friends and family. My neighbor has been so great in taking me to doc appointments and is taking me for the PET scan tomorrow. Friends are already helping out in lots of ways.
One of my life lessons is learning to accept help. Here's a big opportunity to say yes to that.
I'll keep y'all posted. And thank you for all prayers and good vibes!
